We here at HipHollywood want to congratulate Mo'Nique on her victorious win last night in the Best Supporting Actress category at the 82nd Academy Awards.

She has gained both praise and criticism for speech and actions in the press room directly following her win. Not one to hold her tongue, Mo'Nique graciously thanked the academy not only for their support, but for looking past "politics," and awarding "performance" instead. Backstage, she elaborated on her somewhat controversial comment by saying:

“Through this journey and process — and I’m sure some of you are sitting in this room right now — some reporters wrote, ‘Someone needs to teach Mo’Nique a lesson. Someone needs to tell her how this game is played.’ And I am very proud to be part of an Academy that says, ‘We will not play that game. We will judge her on her performance and not on how many dinners she attended and how many pictures she took. It’s on the screen."

She was also questioned backstage about what would happen if there were more actresses with curvy  figures and hairy legs, to which she responded "they would win Oscars."

Amen to that! Flip it to read how she paid homage to legendary actress Hattie McDaniel with her attire and a video of her performance.
