The Robotox Celcius Custom Show in L.A. will be featuring some of the most intricately designed toys that are only one breath away from coming to life.  Overall, the aesthetic screams lovable monsters, creating a new population of aliens that must be added to our toy collection.

Kid Robot may have been the pioneer of mainstreaming urban vinyl but the toy art craze does not end there.  Toy fanatics and graphic designers continue to combine their skills and have created unbelievably imaginative creatures exponentially cooler than 3D Pixar characters.

The figurines are mobile pieces of art that combine a diverse array of aesthetics from street, animation, pop culture, or anything that inspires.  The value of these figures come from the customizable aspect where one can take a plain canvas, such as the popular blank Munny from Kid Robot and let your mind enter a state of freestyle.  Inevitably, all pieces turn out original pieces of work that reflect a moment in time that is recognizable to many.

The limits are endless, one can make a visually stunning piece by using a no-frills material such as colored markers or go all out and change the shape of the figure all together or add different materials like fur, accessories, paint, acrylic, extra parts and more. 



Designer toys follow the same vein of self expression as graffiti which is why we see a lot of cross over between graffiti and street artists collaborating with toy companies, but the real kick of the toys comes from the fact that these figures are mobile pieces of art that also double as mini badges of identity.  Check out the show if you are on the West Coast, even if it's not an option we've got a preview of the best of show in the following pages!
