Badnews: So the obvious question is how did you get into DJ’ing?

DJ Warrior: My cousin use to DJ back into the day and he kind of got me into it. I was just around it and I started liking it, I seen it at clubs and High School parties and I was already into music because I was in a band and played guitar but it just started out as a hobby and then it grew bigger.

Badnews: Now you are kind of a big deal in the DJ world. You’re a four time Justo award winner, and was even named in Rolling Stones Top Ten influential DJ’s in the world… (laughs) world. How did you feel when you heard that?

DJ Warrior: At first I really didn’t know that. But it’s a blessing for me as well as the west coast. It just gets me more focused, and go on to do bigger and better things and also to be more involved out there.

Badnews: Now also you were the first west coast DJ to ever get an Justo?

DJ Warrior: Yeah, I was the first one to get best west coast DJ and I won it three times in a row so they named the award after me.

Badnews: That’s crazy. Would you say that was an important step for the mixtapes to gain popularity on the west coast?

DJ Warrior: Yeah it was real important for the west coast and me because I started out in the clubs, high schools and stuff. But there really wasn’t a mixtape scene out here before that. It helped me get my name out. But it was an important step to bring the mixtape game to the west coast, And I would say after the whole 50 cent/mixtape thing they became more glamorous.

Badness: Now you dropped more than 50 mixtapes…

DJ Warrior: Actually at this point I would say 100. I am the DJ with the most mixtapes out there in history.

Badnews: Damn. Did you ever want to fall back and take a break?

DJ Warrior: No. it’s my career I'm having fun doing this you know?

Badnews: I know what you mean. Now the most recent artists you worked with were Kurupt and Daz a.k.a. the Dogg Pound, how did you connect with them?

DJ Warrior: We just bumped into each other. I already worked with Kurupt in 03, I was a big fan already, but we just bumped into each other. We linked up and then I ran into more people and that’s how it went down.

Badnews: Now besides the rap game, you also been involved with the TV scene like the Jay Leno show, Telemundo just to name a few. Do you ever get nervous DJ’ing on national Television?

DJ Warrior: Nope. Its all just more exposure I also did some stuff for Playboy TV, but I never get nervous.

Badnews: Ok. Now you also lent your voice to the Scarface game how did that come up?

DJ Warrior: I just knew some of the people that were doing the voice casting, and basically asked them what was up?

Badnews: Ok, now would you ever get into gaming or video games or whatever?

DJ Warrior: Of course. I have an idea and I can get some funding and some investors backing me I would do it.

Badnews: Ok. Would it be an action game or action?

DJ Warrior: Action definitely. It would be crazy.

Badnews: Ok. Now you also got some ventures going on outside of music, what are they?

DJ Warrior: I got my management company, we do bookings, and then a clothing line, and some E- commerce stuff and I got a thing going on with Solo Pipe who sell pipes and things, and then distributing so I got a lot and I try to cross promote that with music.

Badnews: Ok, now I see why you’re so busy (laughs). Now you’re also doing kickboxing? Did a girl get you into that? (laughs)

DJ Warrior: (laughs) Nah, I don’t kickbox anymore. I just did it for the exercise and to stay in shape. I need to get back into it though.

Badnews: Ok. That’s what’s up. Well that was everything I had. You have any shout outs?

DJ Warrior: Yeah, shout out to my crew and Cali Untouchables, I got a new tape with Green lantern, then I’m on another named Corporal America that’s out in April and check us out on Sirius every Tuesday, you can access it from Sirius, podcasts all over the net, Dish network and then Solo Pipe, check them out online at www.mysolopipe.com, and check me out on my myspace www.myspace.com/djwarrior

Badnews: Any touring?

DJ Warrior: I’m trying to get more gigs, and try to travel the country but ill be out there soon.

Badnews: Alright, thank you for the chance and your time and hopefully hear from you soon

DJ Warrior: Thank you
