However, executives at Beyonce's label Music World/Columbia Records are adamant it is Morrissey's fault for falsely advertising the show with a performance by the beauty - instead of her sister Solange, who was due to sing at M2. A company spokesperson says, "Beyonce never had a contract with the club itself and no one in her camp dealt directly with the venue. The superstar was never scheduled to perform, but was to serve as a co-host and introduce singer/songwriter Solange's performance. Patrons were falsely promised a performance by Beyonce." Beyonce kicked off the latest leg of her I Am... world tour at the Big Apple's Madison Square Garden on Sunday, when she was joined on stage by her rapper husband Jay-Z.
